TypoTrip – typography on the road

Long Live Him!” – I’m not familiar with the theoretical background of this stencil from central Madrid
and I was wondering whether it could be of religious concern (either ironic or straightforward).
In any case I still find the letters worth a closer look and appreciation for their powerful simplicity
at the same time retaining a high grade of legibility. This could be the base for a good stencil font.
Given the fact that the exclamation mark does show some more sophistication (the narrowing of the stem)
one could imagine that this stencil was created on the base of an existing grotesque typeface.
P.S. In the near future I’m planning to publish a longer post about encountered stencil typefaces.
