TERMINATOR – Salvation Will Come
I was very pleased to see that the practice of painting custom film posters prevails in Ukrainian cinemas.
I find this an admirable tradition and will be sad to see it replaced by homogeneous, glossy banners.

A little taste of modernist style typography all made of thin pieces of iron bent to shape 3-dimensional
letters. An easy and once very popular way to achieve that fancy, sophisticated look. Still used but with
different letter forms. I have found these at very different places around Europe.

Used to the high standardisation of the public transport in most European cities and the Western world
in general I was quite surprised to see how arbitrary the signage on buses in the Ukrainian capital is.
So is the choice of vehicles and until the end of my stay I haven’t figured out the marking system of many
of the bus stops – buses seemed to stop anywhere a group of people gathered by the side of the street.
Being only a temporary visitor I found it very interesting and amusing though I can perfectly imagine the
citizens having a more critical approach to this system.
